Secretary of State Michael Howe today announced that results from the 2024 General Election have been updated to reflect the removal of 196 logic and accuracy test ballots that were inadvertently uploaded with Mercer County’s unofficial election night results.
“There are many steps taken prior to Election Day to ensure the accuracy and integrity of our election equipment,” said Secretary of State Michael Howe. “Mercer County Auditor Carmen Reed reached out immediately when she realized Mercer County had missed removing logic and accuracy test results on their election reporting computer, and our teams’ quickly worked to remove the logic and accuracy test results that were included in their unofficial election results for the county.”
Secretary Howe said unofficial election night results have been updated to reflect updated Mercer County totals at www.sos.nd.gov/elections/election-results. No other county results are impacted. Citizens will notice a reduction in voter turnout numbers from 371,510 to an updated total of 371,314.
“Check-and-balances all throughout the process help ensure North Dakotans can have confidence in their election officials. Thank you to Mercer County for recognizing and working with our team to accurately reflect their updated unofficial election results quickly for the citizens of North Dakota,” said Secretary Howe.
Election results will remain unofficial until county canvassing boards meet on November 18, 2024, and results are certified by the State Canvassing Board on November 20, 2024.
