The North Dakota Public Service Commission is seeking to hire a temporary Construction Inspector to work in its Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) Division. The mission of the AML Division is to eliminate the hazards associated with abandoned coal mines in the state to improve the safety and environment for the citizens of North Dakota. The position involves working at abandoned surface or underground coal mines. Work is generally in rugged and uneven terrain and working and driving near drilling, pumping and heavy equipment is required. The position involves working in all types of weather and walking on a variety of uneven or slippery surfaces. Lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and some manual labor (i.e. digging with a shovel, pounding in stakes and fence posts) may be necessary.Start and end dates are flexible, but work is expected to begin mid-May and continue through September. Workdays and hours may be irregular depending on weather conditions and the contractor's schedule. Applicant must be able to work at the project sites throughout the project. The agency will pay for overnight lodging near work sites during the work week as necessary. A State vehicle will be available for work-related travel. Minimum Qualifications
